| I have compiled a first set of
images from my "experimental" shots. I have removed all the rubbish shots
(no point in putting them on). Some of you may not find themselves in this
set. The reason is that I tried to pan the boats and do different things. A
friend of mine did create the images with a bit more coverage in mind rather
than experiments. These shots will also come shortly and you will find more
images there. I personally like to play, but that may be
just me. ALL IMAGES ARE FREE ON DVD to your club. You may do your own fundraising exercise internally with the DVD, that's fine with me. I also have a FREE poster for the club, 100cm x 60cm, just for fun .. I liked the image and thought I share it, so I printed it. |

I am actually working on an
exhibition of some material. If you have more suggestions for other sports
or special events then just let me know. But please keep in mind, I will not
necessarily do a standard "event coverage". I could not be bothered with
taking hundreds of photos at average quality. One more thing is important to
note here: I do not have a price, so you cannot hire me. I do it because I
like it or I don't do it at all. This year I tried to "pan" the boats. That means to move the camera and lens and slower shutter speeds with the boat to keep the boat and passengers in focus and blur the background and the water. This is highly "experimental" (smile) because it does not guarantee good results even with a high resolution camera. But when it works the images are just stunning. |
| I do not have many images, which I would select as being part of my "artists' favorites". May be 3 or 4 out of my experimental shots of the power boats this year. I still have to practice a bit more, but I will eventually get there. Nevertheless they are worth publishing here for your enjoyment. A shot worth using for me would be one which I can blow up to wall size, print on transparent backlit film and place a light behind it ... that is an awesome way of displaying images. But it requires absolutely top quality material, which is usually not very easy to obtain. I also create the kind of images one could not do with a simple point & shoot camera. The support crews can take these pictures anyway. |

Anyway, enough talking, please
don't mind my typos, I do this in a hurry (smile) ...
The second group contains more "standard"
images, nevertheless some interesting shots and very clean. My mate has done
this for the first time and I must say he did a good job, a very good job.
Thank you Jose. I also have removed many doubles to cut down in image
quantity for quicker reference. I do not sort by competitor this year since
we have much less images than last year where I had 5000+ images from bells
alone.

| Here is one image I like from a
technical point of view. While I was panning the boat and pressed the
shutter the boat jumped a bit leaving the driver in focus and the co-rider
and the rest blurred. This is something you simply can not predict and you
easily end up with everything blurred. So I consider myself lucky to get
images like this. On top there was eye-contact of the driver with me through
the lens which makes it even better. Thanks guys for such an
opportunity. |
